Hi,

Would it be a complicated procedure moving the messages, folder structure and settings from a roundcube installation on one server, over to a new installation on another server? Are there any guides on how to do this?

Just copy over RoundCube folder and export/import RoundCube (MySQL)Database. Messages itself are handled by your IMAP server. To move the IMAP server please refer to your IMAP server documentation.

One thing though, if a user were to move a message into a folder using the roundcube interface, how does this impact the actual message file in the users inbox? Is the message modified in any way in order to let roundcube know it has been moved?

If so, would I need to preserve these settings at all?

All the message handling is done by your IMAP server. RoundCube sends the appropriate IMAP command to move a message to the IMAP server, nothing more and nothing less.

Thanks rosali, i followed the above instructions and all has worked well.

Can I just ask though, and apologies if this is a dirty word in this forum, but if you say it is simply an interface to IMAP, would using @Mail (the open webmail client version) as well as roundcube on the same account have any negative impacts on anything? Or should changes in one be properly mirrored in the other based on the fact they're both dealing with IMAP?

Yes, you can use any IMAP Webmail Client such as AtMail or Squirrelmail along with or instead of RoundCube. It won't mess with folders or messages. The only problem is, that user preferences will not be in sync.

you can modify the location in the existing GPO that have folder redirection settings.
This may happen when you enable the "Move the contents of <redirected folder name> to the new location" in the setting tab because the system will attempt to move folder contents from the previous redirection location to the new location. So if you have manually moved all files to the new shared folder on the new server, clear this setting.

The steps for your reference:

1. Uncheck the "Move the contents of < redirected folder name> to the new location" box of the folder redirection policy.

NOTE: The first step should be done in advance of step 2 to ensure users have logged off and on again and makes sure that this policy option is updated on client side properly.

2. Move files to the new location remaining ACL and file ownership.

NOTE: To avoid the potential issues of file ACL and ownership, you may use "XCOPY –o" (-o parameters: Copies files with ownership and ACL information.) to copy folder to the mew location.

3. After a period of time (all users have logged off and back on again with the change from Step 1 in place) you can change the UNC path in the GPO.
