Exclamation FREEMAIL for everyone - Is it possible with Roundcube?

    Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right forum portal, but feel free to move the thread if needed. Our Version of Roundcube is 0.2.1 and we'd prefer not to upgrade since it's been highly customized with colors, formatting, images, and added options. Anyway, we're working on a large german project site. We have our own server and of course, the ability to generate email accounts through our domain control panel.

What we'd like to do, is to offer people the ability to obtain a free email account without us having to do any work, other than adapting roundcube in whatever way neccesarry. We'd like to be able to present a login screen with the ability to create an email account. Is this possible with roundcube, how so? Is there a plugin perhaps, or is such a function already built in to roundcube? Of course there's also need to be a "lost password" fuction for any user, to be able to re-access their account with a new password.

It would be helpful if there was a plugin that verified the existence of an account so that when a new person signs up, they'd receive a brief message, stating that that particular email addresse is already taken. Any ideas, thoughts, or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Check out MyRoundcube MyRoundCube - RoundCube Webmail Forum It does everything you want to do. You may face a bit of a challenge having a older version of Roundcube I would recommended upgrading.

Thanks, but how about this idea?
Would it be possible to run a version of Roundcube for dedicated users virtually side by side with a version of MYroundcube. That way one version would be "for our" people while anyone who wanted a new email account would be able to create one from the MYroundcube portal. We have a root server so the flexibility is there ... if the possibility to do this exists?

All you would have to do is have a 2 RoundCube installation, just install it into a separate directory with a different database. You could customize it all you wanted without changing your original installation of RoundCube.

Thanks again. That's exactly what I'm going to do.
Our current version is actually a lot newer already since we've updated it just a few months ago.
