[0.1beta1] Help with Install

Hey,
I just tried to install Roundcube, and I read and reread the directions, and all I'm getting is "Error 500: Internal Server Error"
What has gone wrong :?

What webserver are you using?

Remove the .htaccess file from the roundcube root directory

Now I have two more questions:
How do I change the skin?
and
How do I allow people to sign up for email, or do I have to do that manually?

users need to be added manually - not via roundcube
