Roundcube and Google apps (without ssl)
« on: February 14, 2010, 11:28:45 AM »
I've just started using RoundCube, so I have really no idea what I'm doing here, but the host I'm using doesn't permit ssl (because it's a free host), and I want to use RoundCube with Google Apps.

I've disabled ssl in Google Apps itself, but RoundCube just can't seem to connect to the IMAP server.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is it possible to fix?

You need to have OpenSSL to connect to Google, your host may also be blocking port 993 outbound.

That's only for having a https:// connection when on Google website, I recommend getting payed web hosting it cheap and you should have more control.

I thought https was user set (default secure), no matter what.  I'm talking about google apps in the control panel for my domain, unchecking "use ssl".

So the easy answer is pay for hosting?  Thought so...
