CardDAV plugin: no new address book?
« on: October 05, 2012, 07:05:36 AM »
Hi all,

Google has just announced support of CardDAV:
Quote
For many years, we've supported two open protocols for accessing Gmail and Calendar from mobile apps
and devices: IMAP for email and CalDAV for calendar. These protocols, combined with the options to
access Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts with your desktop or mobile browser and via native apps on iOS and
Android, help ensure you have a great experience regardless of the device you use.

Starting today, we're adding CardDAV - an open protocol for contacts - to that list. CardDAV enables 3rd
party clients, like the iOS contacts app, to sync your Google contacts. By supporting IMAP, CalDAV, and
CardDAV together, we’re making it possible for 3rd parties to build a seamless Google Account sync
experience. (http://gmailblog.blogspot.nl/2012/09/a-new-way-to-sync-google-contacts.html)
Instructions here: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2753077

I have just installed v 0.7.0 of the CardDAV plugin. In the new CardDAV tab in Settings, I add my Gmail account. It is successfully saved. I can see the new tables in phpMyAdmin, though they appear empty.

But I don't see the new address book anywhere. I am expecting to see a new address book on the Address book page. Am I missing something here?

TIA

Colin

There was a problem in the plugin that affected the Google contacts access. I believe it was fixed yesterday. Please try a current revision from the subversion repository.
