Version 0.9 - Calendar + calendar_plus
« on: March 05, 2013, 10:14:14 AM »
Does anybody know, when we can expect version 0.9 stable being released and when the calendar + calendar_plus plugin will be migrated to the new system?

Another question regarding calendar_plus; how exactly can the caldav be configured? Do we need an external/local caldav server with a working calendar somewhere (like owncloud)  or is the entire calendar + caldav function stored in roundcube? i.e. is the calendar directly shared with the roundcube-user or would for anyone who wants to use the synch function of the calendar use an additional user somewhere else?

Thanks in advance.
Simon

calendar and calendar_plus from MyRoundcube plugins will be available for 0.9 short after 0.9 stable is released. There is no ETA at this time.

For caldav functionality you certainly need a CalDAV server service. Calendar plugin can be configured to use caldav or Roundcube backend database. When using Roundcube database events are stored locally in roundcube's database hence there is no external service to work with to sync your calendars.

We have specifically go with SabreDAV Framework for caldav/carddav functionality (although users can use SabreDAV, DAVical or any other server application that supports CalDAV protocol) with our calendar plugin. SabreDAV Framework is rather simple to deploy and offers MySQL backend support which is very common for the vast majority of the deployments MyRoundcube plugins users are running. We have also made available sabredav plugin to automate the entire process of accounts creation and passwords sync.

If you would like to archive sharing and sync functionalities with read-only or read/write permissions (caldav/carddav), you probably want to deploy sabredav framework + calendar_plus +carddav_plus and sabredav plugin.
