attachments not opening up correctly
« on: October 24, 2007, 11:54:02 AM »
Roundcube running on Fedora 7 with latest versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL.

I don't have any problems sending attachements, just opening them. Office docs either don't display correctly or give me the "UTF-8" message.  When i access Roundcube on the Fedora machine that is hosting, i can download and view PDFs and Office docs with OpenOffice just fine. Something is causing a problem when Windows users are trying to access their attachments over the network?

On a XP machine if i try to open a word doc i get "Microsoft Office needs a converter to display the file correctly...." if i go ahead and view the file it has the text i wrote in it and below "Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8".

With an excel attachment it opens it, but has the same "Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8".

PDFs i get the message, "Acrobat could not open ____ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted."

I tried downloading the new rc2 version, still the same results.

I installed on Fedora 6 and it appears to open some files correctly, but not all.
PDFs won't open but i do get a display that says "Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" / "Content Transfer Encoding: 7bit"
PDFs can be opened if you save to the hard drive first.
Some .xls & .docs will open, some won't.

Then I tried the Virtual appliance from EnSpeed with CentOS & roundcube. Still does the same thing as with Fedora 7.
No attachments will download correctly.

Attachments not opening properly
« Reply #4 on: January 06, 2010, 12:04:18 AM »
If I send or forward an attachment using Roundcubemail or download it using some other email program (thunderbird, horde), the attachments download and open fine.  Using Roundcubemail release 0.3-stable, whenever I try to open a downloaded attachment, it says I need a converter.  I've tried it on a windows xp machine running apache 2.2 and on a linux machine running same apache version and both give the same results.  I've tried with https required and without, same results.  The http response header was showing application/octet-stream no matter the file type.  I modified the code to get the right type, same result.  I played with the headers to get them to match response headers generated by other programs that work, no luck.  It seems to be related to however the program is getting the message part (attachment) that is sent to the browser for download.  Using Firefox 3+, tried IE7 and Safari, both Mac and PC versions for FF and Safari.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Was this problem ever resolved?  I recently installed roundcubemail and everything is working fine except I can't open the attachments as per the other posts here.  I tested with a simple Word2007 doc, one sentence, no formatting and it said I needed a converter to open it?

I use roundcube with German language. Checked the language files, there is no line feed in the texts. Also switching roundcube to another language does not solve the problem.

As it is a productive system I would avoid to install beta versions. Has anyone an idea which file or part of roundcube triggers the file output?

Kind regards,
Thomas
