A Couple of Questions / Issues
« on: July 12, 2008, 04:28:49 PM »
Hello,

This is my first post to the forum, so first I'd just like to give a big thanks to all the people who have made RC what it is today, keep up the great work!

I have recently switched to RC from Squirrelmail, and have run into a couple of issues that I am hoping to get some information on.  First, I am using the latest 0.2a version, running on Debian Etch w/ Apache 2 / PHP5.  I have 2 problems that we are getting a lot of email from our customers about.

1)  inability to save username and password on login screen.  For some reason, even the web browser doesn't give its built in option for remembering the information.  Are there plans to accomodate for this, or is there a 3rd party patch available anywhere?

2)  IE6 / IE7 formatting error on text formatted email.  Some email clients that are not properly formatting their text, are resulting in run on lines (scrolling left to right) as opposed to word wrapping when viewing the messages.  Firefox seems to work perfectly (no surprise), but both v6 and 7 of IE do not.  An example of what results in this behavior is when we use the postfixadmin Broadcast Email to send updates to our clients.

Any information regarding these 2 issues would be most helpful.

Thanks!

Ian

Is there someplace better to post questions like these other than these forums?

1.)  No, this is an AJAX request as far as I know.  So you never really move from index.php, it just seems like it.  Since you're not really sending any real headers from the browser (you're sending it from the JavaScript) the browser doesn't know about the username and password.  If you really really wanted this, you could change the DirectoryIndex for the RC installation to be something like: default.html which has a form which posts to index.php. This would then ask the browser to save the username and password.  I'm not 100% sure that the login would work that way though.  But it's worth a trial.

2.) I'm going to tack this up to M$ being M$.  I don't use IE at all (refuse to).  I can't help you with that one.  But I'd bet there's something to the max-width CSS property that you could add for IE.  Just an option.

See fix in SVN 1589 (http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1485211#comment:1)

Could you please attach the source code of a message which is not correctly rendered by IE6/7?

Actually, it's ticket 1484416 which gives a real explanation.  It's per-theme now.

Here is the (slightly modified, email addresses) source from a message that does not display correctly in IE6/7

Also, I made the changes as recommended here

http://trac.roundcube.net/ticket/1484416

To change the autocomplete => "off" setting, but still have no way to save the login information.  Again, using 0.2a1

Thanks!

Hello,

Just an update on the above issues.  The browser is now able to save the username and password, I guess I needed to clear my cache.  Still have the wrapping problem with IE6/7 though.  Thanks again!
