Delete and Next Functionality Not Working on 1.4.3

The 'delete and next' functionality (shift - delete multiple emails with focus going to the next email in the list) does not work in the Larry theme unless the UI mode has preview off -- needs to be "Layout is List/No Preview". 

If this still works for others, is there something in my configuration that needs to be explored?

I think I see what you mean the behavior was changed to make it so that if there was not a message shown in the preview pane when you hit delete then there will also not be on in the preview pane afterwards.

So when you select multiple messages then the preview pane in blank and so after you hit delete then nothing is selected so the preview pane remains empty.

I think its different in list mode because then there is no preview pane and so highlighting a message in the list has no other effect (like opening that message in the preview pane) but I don't know.
