Missing Deleted & Archived Emails

I use Roundcube for our business website email.  I needed to look for an email I received recently and could not find it.  I checked my deleted messages and discovered that file is empty along with archived messages.  I experimented with deleting emails and still nothing shows up in these files.  What is the issue?

Roundcube is open source webmail software it is not a service. Please contact your email provider for support.
