customising layout otions lost
« on: May 03, 2024, 07:17:27 AM »
Hi folks,

first for info I'm on version 1.6.6.  Love roundcube.  Warning - I'm NOT an IT expert. I'm a small business owner. But we have access to cpanel etc and know the very basics. So for you experts that makes me dangerous I guess lol

We used to have roundcube set up with a 2 column layout (not the standard 3 column). Had no email preview pane, but it meant we could see more emails in a better list really loved it. Was a bit like outlook layout.

Anyway suddenly lost that and have no menu to customise that used to be there. I'm stuck on the 3 column with no way to change it.

Asked my host about it, they said it was simply a cpanel update and they can't do anything about it. (They also removed alternatives like horde etc which used to be options from webmail so wonder if they've simplified their webmail...)

Anyway I only pay them for hosting not tech support....

But I have cpanel and file manager access so I'm presuming I can add what I need back in to roundcube?  How do I go about that?

Do I need to install that specific theme or skin that maybe they had installed before and haven't reinstalled?

Am considering changing host maybe too but interested to know everyones thoughts before I make that decision. As long as I can get what I need then fair enough. Jetbackup is installed and working. IMAP from my phone etc. SSL. So does what I need.

Thanks for for help.  (Sorry if covered before, tried searching didn't find it...)

You can't modify cPanel's Roundcube installation, you wouldn't have access to those files as a end user.

Amazing appreciate the reply! So on a company's own server you do what you like but my host can't customise for one user of course!

So if the Larry skin is no longer supported is there any supported skins similar I might be able to suggest they install?

Or I need to forget it and just use thunderbird etc on all our machines. Must be affecting alot of end users currently as the Larry vs what we have now is unworkable.

Or if anyone can suggest a hosting company who would support Larry but I guess I doubt it if officially not part of a supported safe install going forward...

Thanks

As of Roundcube 1.6 Larry was no longer included by default but it is still supported and can be manually installed https://github.com/roundcube/larry

You have to install a local copy of Roundcube to your account to use instead of the default system-wide preinstalled version.   You can do that from the cPanel Installatron.  Then, you upload the Larry theme to your Roundcube "skins" directory from  https://github.com/roundcube/larry.
