My inbox with just 0 or a couple of messages takes about 10-15 seconds to load. The trash with 0 or just a couple of messages takes about 5 seconds to load.

Every other folder loads within almost a second (including drafts, sent and archive folders). Even one of the archive folders with 1261 messages displaying 1-40 loads in under 2 seconds.

Whats causing these slow loads?

I think it has been fixed during v2.0 developement. Try lasted SVN release (trac.roundcube.net) or wait for official v2.0 beta which will be released soon.

Running 0.1.1-stable. I tried the 0.2-alpha a couple o das ago, but there where to may issues. I'll hope the beta will be much more stable.

Is there a workaround for this issue? I'd rather not run a beta in production environment.

Try latest version from trac (/trunk ? RoundCube Webmail ? Trac). It is close to a beta release and very reliable.
