Please help me in choosing web hosting
« on: December 30, 2008, 08:19:42 AM »
Hi everyone,
I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost.com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?)

Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers?

I am now checking Hosting24.com - First Class Web Hosting Services - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them about this question and they say something that "These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems".

What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month..
Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.

Right now I host at home, but I used to host at Impacthosting and Bluedomino.

Hosting has been getting cheaper and cheaper over the last few years. Right now I'm testing a Xen-based server at Gandi.net.

I use Site5 and am very happy.  Go with the turbo account and you can host unlimited web sites, each with its own control panel.  Nice features such as unlimited bandwidth, disk space and number of web sites.  Good price, too.

I've been with ServInt for quite a long time and couldn't be happier (and I've tried them all: from Verio to Rackspace to Hostway) :)

I'm with Host Monster - Web hosting for almost 3 years and I could not be happier :) . UNLIMITED Hosting Space, UNLIMITED Site Bandwidth, Host UNLIMITED Domains and a whole bunch of staff for only $4.95/month. Actually I'm given 1500 GB and I'm not doing anything with it :), to be clear I hosted with them before the disk space was changed to unlimited and since I don't need that much space and I don't want my site to be move to another server (for unlimited disk space) to cause down time for my website, ... I'm happy with what I've got.

I use HostGator for my hosting, and I'm quite happy with them. I've also used 1&1, but If you're looking to increase power and flexibility, I'd definitely recommend HostGator. Best value I've found, and they have some great customer support, from my experiences.
