Roundcube vs 6zap
« on: January 13, 2009, 04:11:55 AM »
Has anyone had a chance to compare Roundcube with 6zap (6zap Open source Web 2.0 E-mail, Calendar, Contacts). I did a google search and didn't find anything.

Any other Open Source PHP+AJAX Webmail worth looking at?

I've tried it. 6zap offers more features, but also takes more configuring to get it going, like setting up cron to get emails delivered. it won't work on all shared hosts as well.

Hi. I'm Andrew and I'm one of 6zap developers.
I agree that currently 6zap installation process is somewhat complicated and requires lots of action to do. That's why we will provide installation wizard in upcoming release. This will simplify installation a lot.
Also you need cron only for sending email notifications from events calendar. Webmail works fine without cron - messages are fetched from IMAP server when user requests message list update.

Only which I miss at Roundcube which 6zap offer am the calendar otherwise please me Roundcube substantially better.

Also there are those for roundcube many extensions nearly all needs now already takes off.

SquirrelMail or also horde are only as I mean genuine alternative whereby SquirrelMail simply by the multiplicity of Plugins convinced, I think however in one year see already completely differently out one see so already that the RoundCube Community constantly grow.

I tried so far many WebMailer out and give it for me no more comfortable and better Webmailer such as RoundCube. Cleanly programmed constantly is developed further and maintained the Community is also class and before all which I finds particularly good which one the development whether over dev list or svn trac also constantly pursue can.
