roundcube installation fail
« on: September 24, 2009, 11:47:42 PM »
Hi there,

I downloaded roundcube from:    I used the 0.3 complete version at the top of the list.

I setup the database, tables, user, ect and then tried running the ../installer

The first screen stalled here:

I then forced step 2 by modifying the url directly.
The rest of the install seemed to go well:

Then I tried to navigate to the webmail site:

I read a recommendation that I should download from the SVN... I've downloaded roundcubemail-trunk-r2806-20090729.tgz

I will try installing it tomorrow...

Will it install over the same database settings?

Thanks for any assistance, and what looks like a great product.  I will develop an installation guide when I get this all figured out.

you skipped out part of the installer becuase it didnt work and you are suprised you are having problems?

I'm guessing your problem is PHP5.3, this wasnt properly supported in the 0.3 release but there have been lost of changes to the SVN trunk. You can use the same config files but you need to add a couple of options which are new you can see them here Diff r2848:2986 for trunk/roundcubemail/config/main.inc.php.dist ? Roundcube Webmail
Roundcube Plugins: Contextmenu, SpamAssassin Prefs, and moreā€¦

"skipped out"
no sir, the installer failed

"you are suprised you are having problems"
no sir, i contacted the forum for assistance

Good call on the PHP5.3!
-Should roll back to 5.2? earlier?
-Should i stay with 5.3 and hope the latest SVN release will solve alot of the deprecation issues?

I will follow your advice and install the latest SVN and update the config files as indicated.
