Set the "smtp_server" attribute - probably to "localhost" (if you're running sendmail or postfix etc. on your RC box). Default is to use the php 'mail' function - which I find to be less reliable.

Might help.

Im still having problems sending email. In the email thats returned is says its a perminant error. But the strange thing is that this error only occurs in roundcube but not horde or squillelmail. I've tried a fresh install with a new database.

Post the specific failure notice (which will give info about the reason for the permanent failure - assume it's a 500 code)

here you go:

Thanks! That helps. The message is from your mail delivery agent (exim) which is having problems resolving the mx record for hotmail.com. So it is not being rejected by hotmail, but rather never getting out.

That would be a dns issue on the mail server box. Does it use a "smarthost"? Is DNS otherwise correctly configured? If you are on the mail delivery box - are you able to "dig -t mx hotmail.com" and get the mx records back?

Just ideas that might help.

I've seem to got it to work by changing the MX entry to mail.simplistsims.co.uk then back to simplistsims.co.uk but hotmail doesnt reciveve the email but when i send an email to my gmail account it does. weird eh!?! ;D

yup! hotmail recieves emails from it. So all it needed was the MX Entry reentered

You maybe move this topic Moderators!
