Rouncube Calendar
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:33:39 PM »
Due to the fact, that I didn't really like the layout of the current available calendar plugins for rouncube, or just missing features.

I decided to create my own one. Yes I know, not another one, but first look at the screenshots and then decide.

Yes, it is also based on the jquery fullcalendar, but you get it with a highly modified jquery ui datepicker widget.^^

Features
--------------
*) Implement ICalendar Standard (RFC 5545)
*) Manage events
*) Manage todos
*) Manage any calendar external resource and also edit it
*) etc.

This is just a brief feature list. Other features are also planned.

PS: This is not even alpha version yet. But will be soon in view weeks.
PPS: This will be part of a collaberation plugin suite for roundcube.

Is it planned to have google calendar sync ?
It's the feature wich is missing for me in every celandar plugin for the moment.

The skin is really cool, but may be it will be usefull to add arrow upon the small calendar on the upper left to go a month past or a month in the futur.

There are month and year buttons for previous and next on the small calendar in the left corner, which controls also the big one.

It looks good, any alpha release date planed? Also do you have any more details on the "collaberation plugin" you mentioned?

Well its not just one plugin, its a plugin suite. You will be able to manage your webdav shares, calendars/todos, notes and adressbook, where we just modify the current one, due to the fact that it got a solid base. You will be able to sync everthing in diffrent standards (Including Syncml, ActiveSync, Webdav, Caldav, Carddav, Groupdav). Of course you will also be able to export and import data.

This all sounds nice, isn't it. So here is the probably more disappointing part.
This plugin suite will be only available per payment, due to the fact that employees want to get paid.

But here a small hint for everybody. Whoever contributes to the suite will be getting the plugins for free (including further updates etc), some restrictions able. That includes also people who suggest new features, which are not yet included and usefull or just bugs. Beta will be available for everybody, so be quicker than others to get your copy.

Everything above counts for all plugins, but is atm only limited to the calendar/todo plugin.

PS: If you want to contribute, send me an email over the roundcube forum.

Do I understand that this will enable me to sync with my iphone using Caldav?

I really look forward to having this feature.

Thanks for your and the others work. :)

This isn't obvious to the usual iphone user, at least with OS4.  There is a calDAV option under "Other" in account settings.

Well the carddav and caldav is I think new in iOS 4, but it doesn't matter if you select a microsoft exchange (activesync like mobileme) or carddav or caldav. The only easier thing with the activesync solution is that you only have to set up one account which gives you than access to adressbook, email and calendar. With caldav and carddav you have to set for each the account.

Anyway, if you read, we will not only support activesync, also carddav, caldav, etc, see above.
