Server settings for external mail client
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:28:35 PM »
Hi all!

I'm quite a novice at configuring mail clients =)

Is it possible to connect Roundcube to Windows Live Mail?

If possible, I need the following settings:
Server name (outgoing)
Server name (incoming)

Server port (incoming)
Server port (outgoing)

Should SSL be used?
Should authentication be used?

Thx in advance!

Eurekha

Roundcube is a mail client. The mails itself are hosted on the IMAP server backend. Windows Live Mail is also a Mail Client. So IMO you can't use Windows Live Mail as a IMAP server backend.

Thank you for your reply.

I see your point. So you can connect mail accounts like Google mail and Yahoo mail etc but not an account from a Mail client? Doesn't it seem rather odd that it's not possible to connect an Account (not the mail client itself) on Roundcube to Windows Live Mail?

If you have the settings, please give them so I can give it a try =)

Eurekha

I think you don't understand. A client conntects to a server. You can't connect a client to a client. Roundcube Webmail and Windows Live Mail are both clients.

Roundcube does not have a "Mail account". The Account itself is on the IMAP server backend.
