Emails were sending out Very Well for Several Months in my R C Install. Today I keep seeing A Failed Message when sending out Emails. What could be causing that? :)
-
Whats in the error log?
-
These are 2 from today:
[20-May-2013 12:41:42 CST6CDT] MDB2 Error: constraint violation (-3): _doQuery: [Error message: Could not execute statement]

Neither of those errors should be related to the problem, are you using SMTP or PHP is send the mail?
-
By "installed from cPanel" do you mean you installed it from Softaculous or a similar script installer or are you just using the RoundCube that comes in cPanel?
-
This is my Custom (Softaculous) Install that I've been using for Several Months. :)
-
I desire to see this Resolved ASAP! Some of my valued web mail users are asking me about this. Is it possible that Upgrading to 0.9.1 would fix this?! :)
-
Maybe it would (good idea anyways) but probably not, most likely something changed with the SMTP or PHP setting on the server that has caused it to break.
-
A Squirrel Mail Test WON'T Send Emails Either. :)
-
Then you have a mail server problem, not a webmail problem.
-
Below is what I Was told about the server. It was fine until about 2 days ago. Does what it say below look like a Valid response to you? :)
"I've always had smtp/imap set to require authentication.
Perhaps the latest cpanel update made a change to the config, and it has become more strict.
Regardless, email authentication requirements will not be removed from my servers, as spammers use open relays, and create massive problems."
-
I know nothing about cpanel, as I run my own mail server. But other than that, yes, that is all pretty standard.
-
A post of mine on here that I Deleted, Re Appeared, and Other Posts Disappeared.
If I Edit // SMTP server host (for sending mails) area Properly, should that Solve the Send Emails Issue?! :)
-
In theory, yes. In detail, I don't know because I don't know what parameter changed to make them stop. But if you change the SMTP config to match what your email provider says you should use, that should do it.
-
OK, So Correctly Editing the SMPT Sending Emails area in the Config File, is All that's needed to get the Emailing Sending issue Fixed? :)
-
If that is truly what the problem is, yes.
-
OK, Very Strange that Suddenly started happening. :)
-
Sorry, can't help since that info has to match what your email provider wants/needs. You'll need to work with them.
-
From what I was told from Server Owner, the below should be Correct. The Sending Error currently says SMTP Authorization should be Turned On. How can I Turn It On? :)
// SMTP server host (for sending mails).
// To use SSL/TLS connection, enter hostname with prefix ssl:// or tls://
// If left blank, the PHP mail() function is used
// Supported replacement variables:
// %h - user's IMAP hostname
// %n - http hostname ($_SERVER['website.com'])
// %d - domain (http hostname without the first part)
// %z - IMAP domain (mail.website.com)
// For example %n = mail.domain.tld, %d = domain.tld
$rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = 'mail.website.com';
-
The Server Owner says that I need to add a Email address in the Config area. Below is what he said when I asked him if adding an Email address there would make All Email accounts run properly. Below is what he wrote me. Do Most Round Cube Custom Users have to Learn & Do All of this? Why was the web mail working until this week? :)
All your emails would route out through that email.
However, i'm not sure how the incoming emails would work.
I would ask RC about any settings required for a shared hosting account installation.
-
Do Most Round Cube Custom Users have to Learn & Do All of this?
Yes. Roundcube is a server-based web application. It is intended to be installed, setup and maintained by qualified system admins.
Why was the web mail working until this week? :)
You'll need to ask your email provider that, something has changed there.
To get it working, you need to look at ALL the SMTP config settings in Roundcube, not just the server name. As a guess you'll need to set the following two for sure:
// SMTP username (if required) if you use %u as the username Roundcube
// will use the current username for login
$rcmail_config['smtp_user'] = '%u';
// SMTP password (if required) if you use %p as the password Roundcube
// will use the current user's password for login
$rcmail_config['smtp_pass'] = '%p';
You may also need to set the smtp_auth_type and smtp_port, depending on the mail server's requirements.
