Hi,
Of the templates I saw, Larry was actually one of the nicest.
But, with the "Linen" textures and the pastel blues, it looked a bit "old".
So, I changed the textures and edited most of the CSS, so now its flatter, and less blue.
I also changed the favicon, blue is my Mailbox, red is the other brand :)
Nothing much else changed, so it should work the same as brother Larry.

(first it was harry, now its barry, changed to an extended larry skin)

Can you post a screenshot?
-
Sure.
-
Looks good, I'd recommend changing the skin to an extended skin http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Doc_Skins#Extendingskins so its easier to keep up with future updates.
-
Hmmm
Tried that.
If I correctly understand, I just put the changed files in the extended skin directory, and leave the rest to the skin I extend?
If I do that, the original skin shows, and my css is left alone...
-
Ah, I have to include the html files in included as well...
Edit: harry has become barry, extends larry
-
Nice. It does have a slightly cleaner and crisper look, without being 'different'. And as an extended skin, it should not require a lot of updates to keep it current. Good job!
-
Well, after using barry for a short time, I found that while I liked the cleaner look without the linen backgrounds, I missed the blues, especially on selections and such. The light gray to denote a selected message is not intuitive, most people think of a grayed-out element as unavailable.
So I copied the linen background files into larry instead. No linen, but still more intuitive highlighting.

Ok.
But, uhh, roundcube could really move up a decade or so in design :P
Grey is the new blue! ;D
No, but really, in these times, with "material design" and such (now who promotes that again, uh, can't remember right now) a nice program like roundcube deserves a good look too 8)
For me roundcube and my own mailserver is a way to slowly escape from G who is gobbling up the rest of mankind in Adware. (and F too of course)
Anyways, we will see what we can do with the arry's. Who knows.
best regards,
-? -? -?
Tony.

Gray may be the new blue, but for the average user, the pale gray highlighting in barry just isn't obvious enough to show that something is selected. There's a difference between "esthetics" and "function". The blue may be a bit old school, but it is also very functional and easy for a non-tech user to grasp at a glance.

A mobile/responsive skin is on the roadmap for Roundcube 1.2 http://trac.roundcube.net/roadmap not sure if anyone has started work on it yet.
-
Just for the record, I am not claiming I did such a great job here, neither do I want everyone's blues turn grey 8)
I just did a search and replace in a few style sheets, desaturating Larry.
I think roundcube deserves a bit more modern than it has now, maybe I can get something together one day, free of course.
I don't see much use for a mobile skin, since apps, like "Type" (android) or others do quite a good job... But it's good to have.
A touch friendly skin would be nice. Have bought one of those Eur 200 Chinese Windows 8.1 tablets (nice) , and a lot of sites are not touch friendly, as are my own :-\
Looking forward to new skins!
-
Please don't take me wrong, either. I'm impressed with the difference a few simple changes made, and with a little more emphasis (more difference between normal and selected) I think barry is a nice alternative. Please keep trying new things, that's how we all win.
