problems with installation on ubuntu hardy with REMOTE SMTP

hi,

i am using RC available from hardy repo

i managed to get the installation as far as being able to read message in some folders.

but my main problem is the following message

CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE STARTTLS cp01 OK CAPABILITY completed Tried PLAIN: Resource id #34

and not being able to send emails.

i understand that it relates to SMTP server connection.

could someone give a clue on how to troubleshoot this error?
