Title: why table messages mysql

I'm just wondering why there is a table messages in mysql? When I open Roundcube and Squirrelmail: I read a message and move it from INBOX to an other folder (all in Roundcube), I see them same in Squirrelmail (the messages is red and in a other folder). But this is also after I empty the table massages in Mysql. So the question is what kind of data the table messages saves.
