Hello,
I would like to set roundcube as the default client for emails. For example, when I press a "mailto" link, I need the webmail to run and ready to send an email to that address.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

You can set the mailto: handler in User Interface under settings.

thanks for your answer but this will work only on the "mailto" links while browsing. Is there any way to set it as Default client for ALL applications on windows?

No. Since Roundcube is a web application, Windows can't see it, all it can see is whatever browser you are using to run it in. To set as the Windows Default mail application, a mail client needs to be installed locally.

There was a method to do that, I think using Chrome that will capture all mailto: links across the system. Its been a while since I used Windows full time so I don't remember the exact setup.

Just as progress and times goes by there has been alot of development so for future reference new users may seem this post as a supplementing help to see that it really is possible to have Google Chrome handle a webmail as protocol mailto: default app. As you can see on the link provided here:

https://privateemail.com/ajax/share/0b334a140fe5af41b1eaec8fe5af4422827d3bc5de0e922c/1/8/Mzg/MzgvMg

The function is available in PrivateEmail and makes mailto: protocol default app within Google Chrome.
Not sure as to wether RoundCube does this too. But might as well act as suggestion to investigate the same route to make it easier for people to handle the composing of emails kept to the Compose Email function in RoundCube. How-to. I really wouldn't know. PrivateEmail calls it "Connect a device". Maybe do some insight check to see how its performed and investigate. Would be nice to have implemented here as well on RoundCube. Heads Up! :-)

Best regards,

Roundcube now supports this out of the box, just go to Settings -> User Interface and click on "Register protocol handler for mailto: links" and that will open the Chrome prompt to allow Roundcube to be automatically opened for all mailto: links.
