Title: Attachment size: misleading message
Post by: crog52 on May 06, 2020, 09:29:21 PM
Hi,

I get webmail at Roundcube through Commschoice; using latest OS-X.

In the Compose window,  at the right end, there's a notice saying the maximum attachment size is 50Mb.

A 42Mb attachment fails. Commschoice  support says the permissible size is "20Mb-25Mb", and can't help further.

Can Roundcube alter the attachment size notice for specific commercial users, like Commschoice?

Cheers
crog

This is already possible.

The maximum attachment size limit is read from your PHP settings - its the maximum size of a file which can be uploaded. See https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/wiki/Installation#php-configuration

Since Roundcube 1.3 there is also been a `max_message_size` config option to limit the maximum total size of a message Roundcube will try to send.

Many thanks.

Would changing the message need to be done for individual users, or could it be done by Commschoice?

the settings can be changed by whoever manages your installation of roundcube

thanks for this confirmation;
have passed this correspondence to Commschoice and have asked they check configurations;
also unnecessary '? spam' labels on regular correspondents...
