Title: Add contacts that I already have
Post by: LonelyPixel on May 05, 2013, 04:55:58 AM
Is there a reason why I am offered to import contacts to my address book that I already have there? There's that "add to contacts" icon next to every person involved in a message, no matter whether they're in my contacts list already or not. I haven't tried clicking it, but from importing another file into my contacts (and cleaning up the results) I know that multiple entries can exist for a single e-mail address. So this would probably blindly create a duplicate stub entry.

if the contact already exists it will not be imported again. you get a message "A contact with the same e-mail address already exists.". i guess the icons are always shown because checking for every contact every time on message display would be a performance hit and showing the icon does no harm.
