« Last post by sbwinters on June 29, 2022, 12:24:05 PM »
Looking for an open source email system to host on site that encrypts data at rest and in transit.
Is roundcube capable of this?

Thank you,

Only because of other recently filed issues I want to ask are you using cPanel? It sound like it could be this have you tried with Roundcube plugins disabled?

If not then please provide more info. What version did you update from/to? What skin are you using? Have you tested with all 3rd party plugins disabled?

Update: Known/confirmed cPanel issue:

OK, I figured it out so far: I generated a special password and now I am able to send e-mails. But the e-mails have my gmail address as sender instead of the address which I am really using:

----- E-Mail Header ----------------------------------------------------
Return-path: <>
Received: from mail by with spam-scanned (Exim 4.92)
   (envelope-from <>)
   id 1o6DXj-000C3x-86
   for; Tue, 28 Jun 2022 17:54:23 +0200
Received: from ([])
   by with esmtps (TLS1.3:ECDHE_RSA_AES_128_GCM_SHA256:128)
   (Exim 4.92)
   (envelope-from <>)
   id 1o6DXj-000C3s-5w
   for; Tue, 28 Jun 2022 17:54:23 +0200
From: My Name <>
X-Google-Original-From: My Name <>

----- my RoundCube config -------------------------------------------------
$config['smtp_server'] = 'ssl://';
$rcmail_config['mail_domain'] = '';
$config['smtp_user'] = '';
$config['smtp_pass'] = 'abcdefghijklmnop';

Is there a way how to set "" as sender?

I have a web server for my website and for my e-mail address How can I send outgoing e-mails by using I tried already, but the authentification failed.
As login, I have to set my complete gmail address: $config['smtp_user'] = '' - is there a backslash before @ necessary or not?
Must I install the plugin bartnv/twofactor_webauthn which is actually intended for FIDO? Or any other plugin?

I use Roundcube to access my emails on my phone from my server but today, when I log in the background is black against white writing, the emails are there but I can't delete, select, move or any other function as the menu that shows these commands when I select the three dots at the top right, is shaded and doesn't work though all the commands are there.
Also I can't log off as that also shows dim and does not work.
Is there an update that has caused this as I didn't update the phone and have tried another phone to access my webmail and the same thing happens.
I'm using my lap top now and all aspects do work as normal so it's just the program on mobile phones.
Please advise what can be done, thanks

Thanks, that fixed it, this was set lower in the configuration file:

$config['managesieve_usetls'] = true;

I guess either that is no longer applying or the fall back port of 4190, is not working anymore.
$config['managesieve_host'] = 'tls://localhost:4190';
After upgrading to 1.6.0-rc I can't use the managesieve plugin.

[27-Jun-2022 10:08:56 -0500]: <48af0189> PHP Error: Unable to connect to managesieve on localhost:4190 in /usr/local/www/webmail/plugins/managesieve/lib/Roundcube/rcube_sieve_engine.php on line 221 (GET /webmail/?_task=settings&_action=plugin.managesieve)
[27-Jun-2022 10:08:56 -0500]: <48af0189> PHP Error: Not currently in AUTHORISATION state (GET /webmail/?_task=settings&_action=plugin.managesieve)

If I revert back to 1.5.3 it works fine, confirmed all settings, and tried playing around with different options but nothing appears to have any impact.
Some IMAP servers have buggy implementations of the BINARY extension. You can disable Roundcube from using it by setting
Code: [Select]
$config['imap_disabled_caps'] = ['BINARY']; in your Roundcube config file.

I found this helpful:

I edited /usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/roundcube/config/ per your instructions and will test now.
