Title: Upgrade Question/Advice
Post by: nancygraz on March 13, 2013, 10:36:32 AM
Hi Everyone,

I have a very old version of RoundCube installed (version 0.1-20061206.) Yesterday our web host upgraded to PHP 5.3.22, and our RC install stopped working. Guess it is time to upgrade!   :-[

Because I am doing such a HUGE upgrade, I am wondering if it would be simpler to do a clean install of the latest version (in a separate directory) and then copy over my two configuration files from my old installation directory (after making any changes/additions per the two *.dist files).

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!
Nancy

Nancy, to jump that far you will not want to copy the config files to the new installation, as there have been a huge number of changes in the config. I would start clean, yes. But I would go through the config files line-by-line and copy only the valid settings from the originals.

The database schema has changed a lot also. Just in case the SQL update scripts mess up, make certain you have a good backup of the DB before attempting to upgrade it.
