Title: MAPI compliance for emailing MYOB forms
Post by: Landcare on December 05, 2013, 12:51:53 AM
Hi, I'm searching for help to enable me to send invoices/remittance advice forms from MYOB via pigeonpost. I'm guessing it's not possible from this web-based program, but no harm in asking - anyone know? Below is info from MYOB's help desk. Thanks, Pauline.

"What does MAPI compliant mean?
In order to send a sale, purchase, remittance advice or report by email from MYOB Accounting, the email software you use must be MAPI, (Messaging Application Programming Interface) compliant. These are some MAPI-compliant email programs: Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Exchange and Entourage; Apple's Mail for OS X; Qualcomm's Eudora; and Pegasus Mail. (Not all versions of these products may be MAPI compliant; please check with the program's provider for information about the version you intend to use.) Other applications not listed here may be MAPI compliant as well.

If your email software isn't listed here and you wish to email from MYOB Accounting, contact the publishers of your email software to obtain more information about its MAPI compliance."

I can't say I've heard of MAPI before but some light research on it shows that its a API on windows so there isn't any way to get it to work with RoundCube or any other web based mail system unless they have a desktop client that supports it.

MAPI is Microsoft's "personalized" protocol for Exchange. It is largely similar to IMAP, but with numerous additions. If MYOB requires MAPI, it is probably because they are using Exchange on the backend.
