Title: GPL and a website available to the public - Confused! Please Advise.
Post by: MikeInCape on March 13, 2014, 02:27:26 PM
I have been reading over and over the GPL - and still am not fully clear.

Can I create a hypothetical webmail site like Gmail using roundcube?

While doing this I would need to modify the code to be in my container, and user signup, etc.

I would not be redistributing the code - only using it on my website. I plan to say "Powered by roundcube"

But would I need to release my code which would be proprietary to my website because it interfaces with roundcube? I would not be modifying the guts of roundcube - but I would tip toe around it to make it work like I need.

Can someone please clarify? Can I do this?     :-\

You don't need to if you're not redistributing the code.
