Title: IMAP connection fails for a single user
Post by: Jools on August 07, 2014, 09:30:53 AM
Hi All,

We've been using Rouncube for about two years without any issues but all of a sudden I have a single user who receives "IMAP connection failed" when logging in.  The weird part of this is that she has lots of sub mailboxes all of which do the same bar one which contains three messages that can be opened and read.  All of the mailboxes in the account are listed and the number of unopened messages is shown next to each box.

The mail server runs Cyrus Imap so the first thing I did was logged in using Telnet and tried accessing mail that had failed to open, all of which worked perfectly.  I tried fixing the Cyrus database and reconstructed the mailbox.  We run squatter across out mailboxes at night for faster indexing so I re-ran that in case the index was corrupted.  All of the IMAP permissions are correct on the mailbox so I'm starting to think it's more Roundcube than it is Cyrus.

All other accounts tested log in and work fine and the problem has been recreated on multiple machines.  There are no obvious errors in the logs from either maillog or apache and the maillog shows the mailbox as being opened.

I've looked for a store for individual user settings and can't find one so the question is is there a folder hidden somewhere that stores individual configuration options for users or is there a database entry that could be corrupted in a way that could cause this to happen.

Any assistance gratefully received.

Thanks,

Jools

EDIT:  Just hooked claws mail up to the server and it worked perfectly so I'm pretty certain that Cyrus isn't the problem.
