Title: Setup for Gmail IMAP [SOLVED]
Post by: rounded on September 12, 2014, 11:33:13 PM
I've just installed Roundcube 1.0.2.  I'm trying to configure it to use my Gmail but I'm having trouble getting the IMAP settings right.  I've tried the following:

default host: imap.gmail.com
default port: 993
user domain:  [blank] I have my own domain but I'm not sure if I need to enter it here

When try to test it, I enter my full [email protected] and password.  But the installer gives me this message:
IMAP connect:  NOT OK(Login failed for [email protected] from [IP address]. Empty startup greeting (imap.gmail.com:993))

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? - Thanks

It needs to be tls://imap.gmail.com

I played around with it and found that it's actually SSL://imap.gmail.com
Google lists the required settings here:

https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/1668960?rd=1#ts=1665018,1665144

It works with:
SSL://imap.gmail.com
Port 993
username:  [email protected]
password: mygmailpassword

The result is:  IMAP connect:  OK(SORT capability: no)

Note, however, that I had to change my gmail account settings to enable "Access for less secure apps"
