Since a while i have noticed mails in the Trash are removed from the roundcube server.
Recently i noticed that mails older than 7 days are removed or purged.
I dislike this feature because sometimes i need to recall a message from the Trash folder, in order to see what someone has written in the past.
I looked at some logs but could not trace any errors therefor i think its a setting.
Further more i rulled out any hardware clients (pop/imap) that might have an auto-archive setting.
I have a dedicated centos server running roundcube by default settings.
Roundcube Webmail 1.0.0
Installed plugins
markasjunk2 GPL-3.0
password 3.4 GNU GPLv3+
sieverules GPL-3.0
that is not a feature of roundcube. In my experience, this is generally caused by a setting on a mobile device, most commonly an iPhone/iPad that has been configured to access the same account.
thank you for the reply, it should be easy to tackle because only one person uses that account
i will change the password of that account and see if a tablet, mobile or outlook is causing it
Update: its has been a while and i have disabled the mailboxes synchronization on Android and Outlook 2013 (PC).
I found out that this is OK and trash folder is still full and was not cleaned up any more.
If i would enable Outlook 2013 or Android again the trash mailbox was cleaned up again.
I double checked and Outlook 2013 and auto-archiving is disabled.
I cant really find a Android setting that is related with auto-archiving.
Anyone some suggestions?
I think its a Google Bug because i found this thread about Email retention within Google Admin Console that manages Main App

The solution was this.....
https://yeri.be/courier-imap-and-auto-deleting-trash-after-7-days
Open the courier-imapd config file:
sudo vi /etc/courier/imapd
And just comment out the line that contains EMPTY_TRASH like it discribed in the link above
# IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7,Sent:30
and optional
# IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7
