Title: network links/paths in roundcube emails
Post by: cwarren on August 27, 2022, 11:25:33 PM
I'm running roundcube webmail under an iredmail server.   Users would like to embed paths / links to files on our network within emails, and have them be 'clickable' to open the folder/file.

Examples: in an email, clicking on links such as //nas/shared/MyDocument.doc  should open that document; clicking on //nas/shared/ should open that folder.   I've tried plain text and html formats; inserting URL in the message editor, forward and black slashes, etc.   Nothing seems to work.

Any assistance appreciated, thanks

To create a link to a local file on a website you have to use the file:// prefix.

Usually such links are blocked by browser security you can read about why here https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/153706/why-local-links-are-disabled-by-default-in-modern-browsers
