Title: Tips for visiting Paris, any useful travel tips?
Post by: Bradd on May 13, 2026, 04:53:13 AM
Hi,

I've been meaning to ask this here for a while, even though it's a bit off topic... I've got a trip to Paris planned in about three weeks, and honestly I'm not really sure where to start when it comes to organizing everything.

I've already been to Paris once, around five years ago, but it was on a school trip, so we were just following the group and didn't really get to choose activities. This time it's different: there'll be two of us, with a moderate budget (around €150 per day total including restaurants + museums), and we'll have four full days.

So I started looking up Paris travel tips all over the place, on Reddit, on travel blogs... except it's often the same recycled lists. "Visit the Eiffel Tower," yeah thanks, hadn't thought of that. What I'm actually interested in is the less obvious stuff: neighborhoods that are worth exploring without being tourist traps, restaurants that serve decent food without costing a fortune, that kind of thing.

I've heard about Butte aux Cailles for example, does anyone know it? And as for museums, I'll admit the Paris Museum Pass looks interesting if you're doing several visits over two or three days, but I haven't really understood the exact conditions.

Another thing that's bothering me: transportation. Ticket t+ vs Navigo week pass, I can't figure out which one is actually worth it for a four day stay starting on a Thursday.

Anyway, if anyone has some Paris travel tips that are a bit more concrete to share, even just a good address or advice on timing to avoid queues, I'm interested. It'd be silly not to make the most of a community that travels...
