Title: php-cgi core dump
Post by: cbrace on December 29, 2009, 11:18:03 AM
Hi all,

I have roundcube installed on my SoHo mailserver, and use it for email when I am working remotely.

Normally I have no problems creating attachments to email messages. However, twice now I have encountered a situation in which roundcube appears to "hang" when uploading a message; the little blue wheel keeps turning indefinitely.

It happened again this morning. I had composed an email message and had four small attachments to add to it (JPEGs from 75kb - 160kb each). During the upload of the fourth, roundcube once again remained hanging.

This time, as well as the previous time, it wasn't simply a question of having to close the session. In fact, my server no longer responded; I couldn't even log into it when I got home. In both cases, I needed to cold reboot the box.

After the server came back up this afternoon, I checked the system log. The last line before the crash was this:

Dec 29 11:11:33 venus kernel: pid 72830 (php-cgi), uid 80: exited on signal 11 (
core dumped)

Any ideas on how roundcube and/or PHP are succeeding in locking up my server and how to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks.
