Here's a screenshot of the new upcoming roundcube skin we will be releasing soon. It's called LiteCube, designed for Roundcube 0.4-stable. It's a clean, simple and easy to use GUI. You can view screenshots and get updates here: Roundcubeskins.net (http://roundcubeskins.net/)
It will be free for personal use and we will be offering support and upgrade packages for those that need it.
This will be a supported and maintained by NutsMail (http://www.nutsmail.com). We have different designs in production which "LiteCube" is our first release.
We're shooting to have it ready by the end of August. If you're interested in Beta testing the skin just leave a reply here or PM me.
I hope you enjoy it.
It looks good, good luck getting it finished.
It looks really great, and I'm eager to give it a try!
What are you going to charge for the skin?
It will be a free download for personal use and we will have a support package for businesses. Most businesses need better support and if the skin is used in a production environment for paying customers it will give them peace of mind that there's a support team behind it for trouble shooting and upgrades. For that we will probably charge a yearly license fee somewhere in the ball park of $49/server.
Thanks dpolombo and SKaero for your compliments. We'll make sure you get the first copies. :)
Well it is a nice design, but what I can see on the screenshot is, that it wouldn't have anoth space for more tabs, e.g. when you use the notes and calendar plugin. Of course I don't know the resolution which was used, but you guys might want to consider that.
Looks like one tab extra would work, but two? Might be crowded.

Good observation. At the moment we're concentrating on the basic layout but I'm sure we will have plenty to tweak as we go along. Moving the search box above the tabs should fix that issue, thanks for pointing that out.
The theme looks great, good to see your offering a free skin along with your premium.

Sure thing Mustang, I'll add you to the list.
As a prior Nutsmail (squirrel-based, now retired system) user, I'd be interested in looking at it too. Have several testing installs (most now on 0.4-stable) to run it on.
My experience with RC skins is that the basic stuff is easy - it's the added plugins that are a problem.
Hi,
Just wanted to say that from what I can see so far, LiteCube looks great! Keep up the good work - looking forward to seeing it released.
I do have a request, if possible. One issue we've been faced with the current RoundCube interface is users not being able to efficiently located the "New Folder" for adding a new folder. I am finding a lot of users taking a very long time to work out how to create a folder and are getting very frustrated.
Perhaps a suggestion would be to have/create a "New Folder" text link directly below the last folder displayed on the left hand side folder list, similar to what is seem in "Hotmail"/"Live Mail" were a "New Folder" text link is clearly display directly below the list of folders on the left hand side.
The same issue goes for adding a 'GROUP' contact - not very straight forward via a little "+" symbol at the far bottom left hand side. Something like that should perhaps be moved up the top next to the "Add New Contact" icon/link. I obviously haven't seem your internal pages for Address Book, but this is just a suggestion.
I hope this helps.
Many thanks.
It's a good time to get suggestions as we're still developing and it's easier to change things at this stage. We'll add your 2 suggestions to the design cmuser.
As far as plugins go which ones are the most used or necessary and would affect the layout?
how can I get it for testing?

Hi cyberdan, could you put me down for beta testing please. A lot of the ispconfig community use the mailuser interface plugin which allows password changes per user etc. so it would be nice to see that compatible with your skin for sure.
Quote from: cyberdan;29445As far as plugins go which ones are the most used or necessary and would affect the layout?
Plugins that I've seen that are in fairly common use and known to cause skin problems include:
compose_addressbook
context_menu
help
password
vacation
Another one that we use, but is probably not in wide use is syscp_password which adds a password strength meter to the password change page. It can be found at:
http://www.roundcubeforum.net/7-third-party-contributions/46-api-based-plugins/6557-password-plugin-strength-meter.html
Any plugin that adds a tab to the Settings page (such as password and vacation) is likely to be an issue. Additionally, several plugins come with their own skins folder inside the plug (such as compose_addressbook, context_menu, help and vacation) - any of those are potential problems as well.
To ensure maximum compatibility, I think you may want to consider testing any plugin that ships inside the RC tarball, plus many (or all) of those in the following popular plugin repositories:
RoundCube Plugins & Patches (http://www.tehinterweb.co.uk/roundcube/)
Roundcube Plugins | Underwater World (http://underwa.ter.net/roundcube-plugins/)
Downloads - myroundcube - Project Hosting on Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/myroundcube/downloads/list)
Many of those plugins will be fine as is (lots only do backend stuff, no UI impact), but skin/plugin conflicts are very common, and are a large reason that many RC installs (like my org's) have remained skin-less. The skins may look and work great on an out-of-the-box install, but if they get messed up because of plugin incompatibilities it's not worth the time to de-bug. I can say that my organization has so far decided not to consider skins at all just for this reason. We certainly would not be interested in paying for a skin package unless tested plugin compatibility was part of the package.

That's great, thank you!
Are you able to add me to your Beta testing too? testuser[/at/]live/com/au
I also have another suggestion regarding the
Compose screen (although I haven't seen yours yet). Currently on RC the "
attachement" function is off to the far left and adding an attachment is not obvious (just via a "+" sign right at the bottom left of the page - so there is seperation of the controls). It is not in the context of the message composition area of the page. My suggestion is to place the add
attachment function in the same plane/flow of the user's work space and
have it just below the subject,
(being a user input function carried out during message composition). A simple 'Attachments'
text link with a supporting intuitive
'paper clip' icon would be most appropriate and obvious.
I hope you will consider this suggestion in your design!
Can't wait to see your final product!
Thanks for the plugin suggestions. I can understand the upgrade/skin breaking problems very well. I've been working with Squirrelmail skins (NutsMail (http://www.nutsmail.com))for many years and SM has no templating system. For every upgrade we almost have to reskin everything so we're looking at it the same way for RC upgrades.
I agree with cmuser about the attachment placement. I'm attaching a screenshot of the compose screen, see what you think.

Good points cmuser. The RC text changes are easily done from the language file. Regarding the left navigation, we're trying as much as possible to use the default layout that removes the left navigation when inside other pages. It makes it easier to upgrade to future releases. I'm not sure about removing the "E-Mail" tab as that is also part of the default RC. We could maybe change the icon so it doesn't look so similar to send mail or possibly change the text to say "inbox" instead?
Good point on the text fields. We'll make them more like text boxes.

Hi cyberdan - good to hear you found the feedback helpful. Certainly looking forward to seeing the skin. I agree with changing the "E-Mail" to Inbox, but just note that you also have a "Back to Inbox" link on the left - so see how you go with it.
Point taken about the left navigation and future upgrades, we certainly don't want to be hacking away, but hopefully RC will see the importance of keeping site navigation fixed.
Feel free to post other pages if you're interested in feedback.
Keep up the fantastic effort!!!
This is the first skin that has me excited. For once, it seems like someone is trying to fix the usability issues with the default skin and not just "color" the existing one.
Good work! I'd be curious to see how it ends up.

Just an update on the release dates. I've had to extend our ETA from the end of August to a later date (still to be seen) as we've moved offices which has slowed things a bit. We will probably release each page as we work on the next page so we can get as much input for the final product.

Yup we're still at it. We've had a lot of projects happening at the same time but we've hired another top notch programmer who will be moving this forward a lot quicker.
The design has also been changed to match the new 0.4.2 version and to simplify the upgrades. Any feedback is always welcome.
This will for sure be my new default skin when it arrives. Any chance of getting on the beta test list?
It would be so sad if this theme will never be published. It is already a lot of work done which can be seen from the screenshots. However, there are no news for over a month neither in this thread nor on Roundcube Skins and Themes (http://roundcubeskins.net/) or twitter (http://twitter.com/nutsmail). I start worrying!
If there is any help needed - please tell us! Testing, css programming etc.
The main point is not to quit the project, because its such a great work!

That's the problem with themeing. It takes a lot of time and effort to weed through the templates and make changes. and with each iteration of RC, a lot changes to the point that there it forces tons of rework on the themes.
I would much rather see improvements made to the default skin, either collaboratively or individually than see more progress on the skins.
Quote from: andros69;31733I would much rather see improvements made to the default skin, either collaboratively or individually than see more progress on the skins.
well, i agree. As it can be seen from many good skins for older versions, they somehow disappeared when new versions were coming up. So the best way would be to create an awesome default skin.
It says in the roadmap for version 0.7 a skin redesign would be planned.
Why not setting up a collaborative group of design orientated programmers who create a new default theme?
Yup, it's definitely time consuming getting these skins made, each page is it's own template. Good news is that we're still at it. I've had to make some adjustments now that we're in the implementation stage. The designer can dream up beautiful things but implementing it is a different story. So Chris, our top-notch programmer has made me change a few things although it's still true to the original style.
I won't give an eta as the last few we weren't able to complete as scheduled but we're still at it.
Here are 2 screenshots of the main inbox page. I would like to know if people would prefer text buttons for reply, reply all, forward etc or a cleaner look with no text much like the default skin?
Thanks for your input.
My vote:
No text buttons. It saves space to hook into with plugins.

Good news! So it's ready now. We're just doing some initial testing/tweaking for 0.5-Stable. Once that's done we'll release it for beta testing.
I'll add you to our beta testing list Rosali, thanks for offering.

In the compose-screen the field 'Followup-To' is default visible. Is this on purpose?
The folder names in the folder-editor are very short. Can this be fixed?
The theme really looks great!
The only thing i`m missing is the button to quickly mark the messages as read (in the old theme, it was on the left hand side of the e-mail message).
Is it possible to add that button in this theme?
Thank you for a nice theme!
Some minor issues:
- compose message screen: 'Followup-To' is visible by default (as Julius Caesar already pointed out)
- the icons are a little bit too small for my taste
- in the address book, the 3 icons on top are displayed without the border-box around them - this looks inconsistent (compared to the message icons)
- the reload inbox button looks a little bit out of place; it would be better located in front of the other message related icons (like in the default theme) or look better with the border-box around it as well
- the background image on login page is missing (as seen on the screenshots on your site (http://nutsmail.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/roundcube-skin-litecube-login.png); maybe on purpose)
- in IE6, the logon box is cut off at the end (see attachment)
@xyanide
There is a button to mark messages (yellow star).
Quote from: Silencer;32941@xyanide
There is a button to mark messages (yellow star).
I`ve seen that, but that requires going through a menu. In the old skin the "mark as read" button was directly available in the interface (the blue dot next to the e-mail messages).
I`m also missing the "star a message" in the interface. In the old skin it was at the right side of the messages.
@xyanide
You are totally right, sorry for that ;D. Actually there are 3 icons/rows missing in the message list view:
- icon for attachments
- icon for read/unread status with option to change it (in the individual message line & appropriate row)
- icon for star/no-star status with option to change it (in the individual message line & appropriate row)
Thanks for all your input so far. We're adding everything to our list of Tweaks. Keep it coming :)
Just installed your skin.
I seem to be missing all icons within the message pane, so cannot star or mark read a message or see if it has an attachment.
Also list options is missing so I can't add or remove columns.
any ideas?
@strictlydata
Same for me, in the message list viem the column options aren't available (icon in the first column in the default theme).
Would be great if you could add this cyberdan.
Litecube 1.0.1 updates now available for download with your recommended tweaks.
This update has fixed the errors I came across, Nice looking skin.

Indeed, i`m now using this skin as my primary and it looks and works great!
Quote from: cyberdan;33010Litecube 1.0.1 updates now available for download with your recommended tweaks.
One thing is still not fixed. The folder names in the folder list under the
Settings > Folders gets truncated at 50% of the column width, while the check-box only require a small percentage of this width.
Apart from the IE6 logon box issue (is still cut off at the end), everything seems to be fixed. Thanx!
Personally I find some of the buttons a little confusing in this skin.
The reply to sender button to me indicates forward email, and the forward button indicates check for messages.
Am i the only one?
i love the skin, did notice the reply and forward arrows pointing the opposite direction than im used to in thunderbird
I very much enjoy the theme!
I use several plugins one of which is the 'archive' plugin. I am aware that you have to take care of each plugin if it is to appear following the LightCube theme. But I would very much appreciate it if you could take a look at the most popular plugins. Maybe the 'archive' plugin would be a good start :)
Cheers

We will be making mobile versions of all our roundcube skins.
Here's the first one being developed for LiteCube. It will be a stripped down skin with just enough functions to work as a webmail reader/writer for mobile devices.
We're looking for beta testers for the Android market. We have iPhones but no Androids. If other mobile phone carries are interested in testing please let me know and we can work towards it.

Hello,
I've a little bug with the litecube skin.
It's located in the preference page where I have some plugins installed to let rouncube work with ispconfig.
This is how it looks with litecube and the normal theme :
(http://img11.hostingpics.net/thumbs/mini_657881buglitecube.png) (http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=657881buglitecube.png)
I've got this with Opera and Firefox, with Internet explorer 9 it's looking different but still not ok.
Regards,
Odd I haven't seen that problem before. Is it the same with all the tabs or just that one?
Only the account tab, the 3 others are fine.
Hello there, I install this skyn this is great, but the calendar plugin dosn't work with this skyn.
I have quickly coded a skin for calendar plugin. The only remaining issue is that the background color in the main navigation bar is not set active/passive.
Maybe the devs of the skin will fix it ...
EDIT:
jqueryui plugin:
Map it to redmond theme:
config.inc.php
// map Roundcube skins with jquery-ui themes here
$rcmail_config['jquery_ui_skin_map'] = array(
'groupvice4' => 'redmond',
'meh' => 'redmond',
'litecube' => 'redmond',
