Title: RoundCube on Mercuy Mail
Post by: reden007 on October 29, 2010, 10:51:44 AM
Hi guys,

I'm new to all of this and have basic knowledge regarding webmails and webmail servers, and in order to further improve that knowledge I'd like to learn how to make things work. I've been trying this for a several days now but of no avail.

I have newly installed XAMPP which comes with Mercury Mail as the Mail Server. I have also tried installing roundcube based on the installation instruction from this site, although it's not specific to mercury mail. I finished the installation, however I could not get into the roundcubes page and one time I got there but was asking for a username and password which I'm not even sure what to type in. i have created a new username in mercury mail and tried to use it, but of no luck. I'm sure there's a lot that I missed and I might have done wrong with the installation, but if someone can guide me or provide a step by step installation instruction on how to setup roundcube with mercury mail as web mail server (xampp), I would be very greatful.

Thank you in advance.

Well, I'm not familiar with XAMPP, and I've tried to get some answers from the website. But the first question is: Is the Mercury IMAP module installed?

Yes, IMAP is installed and is in ready mode.

xampp is similar to wamp but with more features, it runs apache, php, mysql, filezilla and the Mercury Mail Server. Its a small Web Server program which is very much portable and can even run from a usb.

I'd like to install roundcube again from scratch where my Mail server is Mercury Web Mail Server but can't find any step by step instruction.

What I think is the best option:

* Install XAMPP
* Configure Apache / Mercury
* Create a website for Roundcube
* Install Roundcube on that website
* Modify the ./config/main.inc.php. IMAP and SMTP servers are located on 127.0.0.1 (or localhost)
