Search mail by date ?

Hi all,

i would like to know if there is a way or a plugin to be able to search mails by date or date range ? (gmail style)

for example all mails before a date or mails between 2 dates etc etc.

the only thing i found is to search a month in a year "Oct 2012" because it is in the content of the original message

I don't think there is a plugin to do it, I not really sure what it would entail but I think it would be a good feature.
