Hi

I am getting the following error message:

[21-Dec-2006 17:58:19 +1100] SMTP Error: SMTP error: Authentication failure: Invalid response code received from server
 in /var/www/html/roundcube/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc on line 253

The server I am connecting to is Postfix 2.3.3 using Dovecot SASL authentication. My master.cf has the following line:

smtps   inet n  -  n  -  -  smtpd -o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes

And my main.inc.php has:

// use this host for sending mails.
// to use SSL connection, set ssl://smtp.host.com
// if left blank, the PHP mail() function is used
$rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = 'ssl://localhost';

// SMTP port (default is 25; 465 for SSL)
$rcmail_config['smtp_port'] = 465;

// SMTP username (if required) if you use %u as the username RoundCube
// will use the current username for login
$rcmail_config['smtp_user'] = '%u';

// SMTP password (if required) if you use %p as the password RoundCube
// will use the current user's password for login
$rcmail_config['smtp_pass'] = '%p';

Anyone have any ideas?

What do you have this setting set to in your main.inc.php
// SMTP AUTH type (DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5, LOGIN, PLAIN or empty to use
// best server supported one)
$rcmail_config['smtp_auth_type'] = '';

Thanks - I changed it to CRAM-MD5 (which is our standard auth mechanism) and it worked. Is there an issue with the detection routine?

I suppose I really don't know. I know squirrel mail will auto detect and so will thunderbird but RC doesn't at least on my server.

Okay - thanks for that. I might have a poke at the code and see why this is happening.

Has there been a fix for this yet? I've tried DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5, LOGIN, PLAIN and empty, and none of them work. I'm using RC with hmailserver. I get the little pink box every time saying "Failed to send message" the error log says:

SMTP Error: SMTP error: No From address has been provided
 in sendmail.inc on line 253

Not exactly sure where to go from here...? ??? :-[
