Message List: Add a new column - how do I do that?

Hi guys

I want to add an extra colum to the message list because I'm trying to work on a simple taging/ labelling system for the mails and woudl like an extra column in place showing the labels for the mails when applied.

What do I have to do to add the columns. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, Thanks..
