get number of taskbar-entries

Hi,

is it possible in a skin to get the number of plugins registered for the taskbar?

The reason I'm asking is that I want to remove the taskbar-container when their is no entry/plugin which would be shown in it for the skin I'm working on.
So it would also be enough if I just could say the taskbar has (no) enries.
