Managesieve does not work on Ubuntu 12.04

I know that this is probably not the most appropriate section (or even a forum) to ask for help for this specific situation, but I am completely desperate, and I hope that someone will help me.

Namely, I have a standard Postfix + Dovecot + MySQL setup on my Ubuntu 12.04 machine. The mail server is functioning properly, and now I'd like to have Managesieve on it. I've installed the dovecot-sieve package and have enabled it in Dovecot config file. But when I load the Roundcube plugin for sieve, I get an error message that it couldn't connect to the server. I've tried various things with no progress. I don't even know what log files should I look at in order to investigate further.

Is anyone here able to help me?

Did you configure managesieve plugin? Read its config file carefully, check managesieve host and port. There's also an option to enable debugging of managesieve conversation.
