random emails violating date sorting order

I apologize if this has been discussed previously.

I have been using RC through my webhost (through cPanel) for about a year now and have been very happy with it.  I would say that about two months ago I noticed that old emails from perhaps months or even years ago suddenly started moving out of "order" and appearing in my inbox amidst new mail.  I use date to sort by and so this makes no sense to me.  I had been using Horde for several years prior and simply switched over to RC.

A separate issue that occurred last night is that I was looking at an email with picture attachments and when I tried to return to the inbox the email was suddenly deleted.  It was not in the trash file as were several previous emails that I had just deleted prior.  I think this issue is known from a brief survey of pending issues (?).

Ok, I now have answers to both questions.   My wife happened to walk in while I was discussing this; she THEN told me she went into the program and entered threading as an option about seven weeks ago while I was away and did not tell me.

In some other situations I might have tried clicking random icons but I have learned to be very conservative with fiddling with data that my livelihood depends upon. 

It would be nice if the date of the most recent reply showed up rather than that of the start of the thread.  I am guessing there is a way to achieve that but for right now I am simply glad the data is still extant.
