Spell Check doesn't work on my install

I have installed Roundcube and it is working great, apart from the spell check! When pressed it looks as if it is about to work, but then

Spell check is set to TRUE, and my PHP.ini is set up to use
extension=php_sockets.dll
and
extension=php_openssl.dll


What else can I try to get the spell checker working ?
