Sorting out my old server archives

I spent all last weekend migrating data from a dusty rack server I haven't touched since the early 2000s. I expected a straightforward backup process but the hardware is struggling to keep up with current disk speeds... honestly the old interface feels incredibly sluggish compared to my modern desktop setup. It's funny how a system from around the release date for ps2 feels like an eternity ago in terms of performance. Everything ran so differently back then before the software updates we rely on today. Any tips on archiving these legacy drives without pushing the hardware too far?
