Attachments Won't Attach

I just began using RoundCube (newbie). I like the html options as I use many images in promotional emails for my site.  

I am unable to send attachments thus far. The browse and upload box comes up but after it disappears, nothing is attached.

Also, I keep putting old items in the trash but they reappear each time I login back in.

Any assistance will be appreciated.
