[edit]Shameless plug for Roundcube by me :)[/edit]

@mail is way too heavy, wrong language, and like most products, trying to be all things to all people.

RoundCube is webmail done right. If it stays on course and does not get sucked in trying to be more than that, it can dominate the webmail market, in time.

I think that RoundCube will be the at the top, why? Its free @mail is a lot of $$$

That and it is very light. 500KB

First of all, IANAL (probably a good thing). Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I would only say to not burn any bridges. The consulting work would obviously involve seeing the @mail source code. If an NDA were involved then his options would be limited after doing the work, and I don't know if even not signing an NDA is enough. He would see their copyrighted code and could later be accused of including their work when starting to work on roundcube again. AFAIK a simple letter to whoever hosts roundcube's site/server would be enough to kill it off with that kind of accusation (legal notices to ISPs tend to get sites killed off immediately, no questions asked even if the site is legit). If the consulting work could be pulled off without giving up the rights to roundcube (simply do the work just like any other contractor) and somehow come up with a legal agreement to not sue for (accidental?) reusage of @mail code in roundcube, I say it sounds like a good deal to make some money and travel. Anyways, I am amazed at how good roundcube is at such an early stage and can't wait for the next beta release.

I personally think @mail have thought they could overtake us. Lets buy them out. Thats what i think. Roundcube is a real competitor when we get pop3 support. DONT SELL! @mail will flood roundcube with features that will over crowd it and slow it down and people will leave. 8)

I think, RC is easier, smaller and faster...thats the reason becasue I like RC.

SKaero

I think that @Mail is faster, but the way it looks, and feels is what get me down. I have as I get it free with one of my host, I don't use it any more.

P.S. Why is this in News and Announcements?

I just installed RC today and I must say it is a BIG relief to see the continued independent development of RC for several reasons. Being open-sourced, RC can have a plethora of plugins/modifications that will make it well featured. I also use Squirrelmail in parallel and I have to say, RC takes the cake in the simplicity/visual appeal department. Keep up the great work!

Squirrelmail works very well but it's a webmail application from the 90's. Its development hasn't evolved over the last 5 years. It has no future it the devs don't wake up. RoundCube is so young and so much better.

I would personally like the merger.
Would do more good than bad (if at all) ....

Merger's not happening. Closing thread.
