Messages disappeared

Yesterday when I opened my Roundcube inbox in webmail, I had 15 or so new messages.  The inbox would only let me click on some of the new emails, not all.  I tried using my mouse and I tried using the arrow buttons, but the software would not let me view the most recent ten or so emails.  It was like it was partially frozen.  So I logged out and logged back in and the emails I couldn't click on were gone.  I sorted all my folders by the date to see if they had somehow been moved and they're not in any folders.  

Has anybody experienced this problem?  How can I retrieve the messages that have disappeared?
