Hook message_compose and Identities

Hello,

we are using Roundcube since a while. Because we need some modifications for the identities, we are currently use an old, patched version.
Now we found the new API based Plugin System and we like to use it.

So my question is, is it possible to manipulate the identities drop down with the message_compose hook? Or better say, load the identities through the hook from another database and ignore the Roundcube internal identities?
