SVN 639 - missing smilies in RC re:
« on: July 26, 2007, 06:09:53 AM »
... didn't found a better subject ^^

Point is, I write an HTML eMail (svn 639) to my wife with a smiley inside. Now she answers this mail, also in HTML format, but my smiley is gone... only the 'name' stands there. Is this WAD? (work as designed)
it\'s not a bug - it\'s a feature

OK, need to make an addition:
I send text/html to her, she sends back text/html and if I have a look into the source I see some confusing to me... someone may deconfuse me ;)
First: The mail got the message in text/plain and also in text/html... I guess, this is for those, who do not want to receive an email in html format, so they can have an alternative plain text format, right?
Second: What happend in the html format to the smileys?
Code: [Select]
<img src=3D&quot;cid:_smiley-yell.gif&quot; border=3D&quot;0&quot; alt=3D&quot;=Yell&quot; title=3D&quot;Yell&quot; />
I thought, I have a little knowledge about html... but this as far as I remember, I have never seen before... this 3D outside the "... what does it mean? cid:_ <- what's that?! I can only guess, that this is an error, right? The point is, I thought because of this relative addressing, the smiley is disappeared, but my static URL is also gone away... and I guess, this is the point, why RC won't show up smileys anymore, correct? I'm feeling like a noob... :'( give me some wisdom... Am I the only one having this 'problem' with the smileys. I guess, it will be the same, if I add other images by hand...

OK, the code is still 'confusing' but not wrong... I guess... I found out, that every time, I replay to an email of mine, the inline elements gets cut off... After 4 Mails I got this code:

Code: [Select]

I removed the mail fields ;)
But by the way: I cannot replay to myself... why not?

In the preview I see the last smiley... and at this moment, I start to compose the replay, the smiley is replaced by its alternative text... and this truncates the inline code... and by reading this last replay, the smiley went away for holiday... hopefully, this is a helpful bug trace... 'cause I don't know what to trace now....
